On to the last few features of Cracked Sketchbook PRO that I liked. You can create a folder on your computer desktop that holds the contents of your SketchBook. Not only that, but you can even create multiple folders for different portfolios.

Another cool feature is the ability to zoom in and pan your sketchbook. I wish I did this on my previous review of the Etchr Signature Series Perfect Sketchbook. Instead, I just drew the figures larger. I think that is a great feature though.

Finally, I like the ability to add multiple media in SketchBook Pro. You can add notes, drawings, sketches, images and doodles. You can even choose the background color you would like to apply to your art.

Each sketchbook comes with a series of 36 art journaling cards. Each of the cards includes a few topics you can start writing down in your sketchbook. The topics, however, really dont work for me. Im sure they were written by people who write down their thoughts on a daily basis. The topics are slightly and I mean very slightly inspirational. Im not even sure they could use these professionally.

My hope is that SketchBook Pro users will eventually be able to go through these journals and organize them by theme or book. So when you get to the end of a journal, you have all the ideas it held sewn together and organized by theme. This would be amazing for when you cant remember a particular concept and want to re-read the journal.

I was overall pleased with my experience with the new SketchBook Pro, and it’s now a part of my daily workflow. The software is packed with features, however, the new version suffered from some UI glitches and usability issues. I think that if you are looking to purchase the app on the basis of cost and features it is a great alternative to the more expensive Wacom options. It is still a bit of an investment, however, and not for those looking for a cheap college starter art kit. Teens looking to utilize more layers and brushes may want to wait and see if Wacom releases the upgrades that theyve promised. If youre looking for a go-anywhere digital drawing app, then you really can’t go wrong with these. While this review is focused primarily on the SketchBook Pro products, I do have a review of the Wacom Intuos5 and Intuos5 Wireless pen tablets for those interested in the new Wacom devices.
